S4: E2 Music Comforts Me
Do you ever like a song so much that you play it on REPEAT and eventually get sick of it?
Because that's exactly what I do.
Although, my all-time favorite song is "Somewhere Only We Know" by Keane and I will never get sick of it no matter how many times I hit play. I am so lucky to have experienced it live twice so far! 💙 (Please go on tour again!!!)
My playlists on Spotify are my musical scrapbooks. From certain seasons, trips I've taken, decades or moods, I've got it covered. For a while I had one with a bunch of sad songs for when I was feeling down. Now I frequently play one that reminds me of someone special. Before the Disney Store closed, I made a note of the songs from the summer soundtrack in order. Then I added them to a public playlist so that all Cast Members could hold on to a little bit of the magic. Whenever I put it on, I am transported right back to the store. It's incredible how powerful music can be.
Click on the links below to see samples of songs I listened to on my recent travels:
New Orleans | "Down in New Orleans" by Dr. John
Chicago | "Chicago" by Win and Woo ft. Bryce Fox
New York City | "Empire State of Mind" by Jay-Z ft. Alicia Keys
Toronto | "Toronto" by Jamws
Even in my day-to-day life music matters. When I am home alone, I always need some kind of noise on in the background, whether that be music or just something on tv. Driving in the car, the steering wheel is my microphone and I put on a show! My mood can completely flip if a good tune is on.
Right now my current ear worm is "I Don't Think That I Like Her" by Charlie Puth and it just tickles the brain! I came across it on TikTok because of a 6-year-old boy who recreated it with his own music and then got a shout out from Charlie Puth at his concert! This platform has made such an impact on the music industry. I found "The Best" by Nicotine Dolls on there and WOW... the hold that cover has on me.
A couple months ago, I heard "Jupiter" by Gustav Holst, which was one of my favorites to play on my violin. After being a part of a full orchestra for 8 years in school, it's so lonely playing solo. I miss it a lot and feel sad thinking about such a beautiful instrument just trapped in a dark case. I have been wanting to bring it out and tune it up again, so this is my motivation. If you are reading this, PLEASE hold me accountable for letting out my inner violinist! She is still in there!
In the meantime, I will leave you with this... Life without music would b-flat. 😉
